I'm the president of Vitality Financial Group and have been a financial advisor since 2007. I was born and raised in Victoria, BC, and have spent my professional life servicing the island. I love working in finance because it allows me to make a real difference in people's day to day lives and their future. Too often, people are hesitant about discussing their finances. I pride myself on making this uncomfortable topic an exciting and pleasant experience. I've seen tragedies and loss in friends and family, and too often, they had placed their financial faith in the wrong institution. This serves me as constant motivation in protecting my client's well-being and lifestyle in difficult times.
My journey to where I am today has been a winding one, but has always been founded in what is most important to me, which is helping others. I have a Masters in Educational Psychology through the University of Victoria, and have spent my entire adult life working with students with special needs in our public school system. The usual response to hearing that is “wow, that must be so hard!” but I truly believe that if you find a job that you love, you’ll never work a day in your life, so I feel very fortunate. Finance might seem like a large leap from special education, but diving into it has satisfied both my love of learning, and my need to help people beyond the scope of what I can accomplish at school! So many families are impacted by disability, and this impact can be a negative one if they are not financially prepared for it. I know from my experiences in the school system that planning ahead and being prepared for the unexpected can make it that much more manageable, and can allow families to support their kiddos in the most amazing ways. I love to be the one to help people to do that!
